Giving Tree at REI in Berkeley

Hello & Happy Holidays! We have kicked off our Giving Tree campaign at the Berkeley REI (1338 San Pablo Ave, Berkeley). Look for the Christmas tree inside the store, select an ornament off the tree, and you can purchase that item for ICO. The Giving Tree will stay up through the Holiday Season. Thank you for supporting ICO!

2014 Rafting Fundraiser

UPDATE: Due to low sign-ups, the 2014 rafting fundraiser has been cancelled. (Sept 1, 2014)

We've secured the dates for the 2014 ICO Rafting Fundraiser. On September 6th and 7th, we’ll host our annual Fall Fundraiser Rafting Trip in partnership with All Outdoors California Whitewater Rafting and The Nugget Campground. Join us and experience the delights of whitewater rafting in a beautiful river canyon, while supporting the Sierra Club's Inspiring Connections Outdoors (ICO) rafting program.


September 6th - 7th, 2014
South Fork of the American River
Class III
(beginner – intermediate)

Saturday 9/6: $150
"The Gorge" – Start this 11 mile day on the river in the scenic Coloma Valley. After lunch, the excitement builds as we run the Class III section including Fowler’s Rock, Satin’s Cesspool and Hospital Bar.

Sunday 9/7: $150
"Chili Bar" - A 9 mile trip through the heart of the Gold Rush with many thrilling rapids including Meatgrinder and Troublemaker. We’ll raft right past the spot where gold was discovered.

Saturday night - $ 50.00*
Riverside camping and gourmet dinner in an exclusive, quiet private campground*

A discount of $ 25.00 per person per day is available for groups of four or larger!

* Sign up for both days and get your camping and meals for free!

We will be asking for an additional donation after each trip.

Trips are all inclusive and feature a great riverside lunch and shuttles between the river and our meeting place. The minimum age is 8 years old.

We meet in Lotus, CA, approximately 2.5 - 3 hours from the SF Bay Area.

Make a weekend of it and raft both days while joining us in a riverside camp! The campground comes with hot showers and bathroom amenities. Enjoy a gourmet dinner and spend the evening relaxing next to the campfire along a pristine river in Gold Rush country. Sunday breakfast is included. Ask our guides about the Gold Rush era tunnel that you can explore.

Non-rafters are welcome! Nearby activities include: wine tasting, cycling, hiking, fishing and Gold Rush tourist attractions.


Inspiring Connections Outdoors is an all-volunteer outreach program of the Sierra Club that provides wilderness experiences for groups of youth and adults who have little or no access to nature. 2013 Rafting Fundraiser

Hello!

We've just secured the dates for the 2013 ICO Rafting Fundraiser. On September 28th and 29th, we’ll be hosting our annual Fall Fundraiser Rafting Trip. Come join us and experience the delights of whitewater rafting in a beautiful river canyon, while supporting the Sierra Club's Inner City Outings (ICO) rafting program.


September 28th - 29th, 2013

Saturday 9/28: Class II-III South Fork of the American River ("The Gorge") $150
Sunday 9/29: Class II-III South Fork of the American River ("Chili Bar") $150
Riverside Camping and Sunset Gourmet Dinner along the South Fork of the American River: $50 or FREE if you sign up for both days.
20% Discount is available for groups of four or larger!


Guests will explore a class III river rich with history and exciting whitewater. Trips are all inclusive and feature a great riverside lunch and shuttle between the river and our meeting place. The minimum age is 8 years old.

The meeting spot is in Lotus, CA, approximately 2.5 - 3 hours from SF Bay Area.

About Inner City Outings

Inner City Outings (ICO) is an all-volunteer outreach program of the Sierra Club that provides wilderness experiences for individuals who might not otherwise have them. Most participants are young people from urban communities, but ICO also conducts trips for other groups that do not have access to outdoor activities.

The goal of the Inner City Outings program is to help people discover the beauty and challenges of the wild lands we treasure, acquire the skills necessary to enjoy them safely, and learn that human activity and the natural world are interrelated. We've just secured the dates for the 2012 ICO Rafting Fundraiser. On September 8th and 9th, we’ll be hosting our annual Fall Fundraiser Rafting Trip. Come join us and experience the delights of whitewater rafting in a beautiful river canyon, while supporting the Sierra Club's Inner City Outings (ICO) rafting program.

Fundraiser whitewater rafting trip: September 17-18, 2011

Inner City Outings is staging two very special trips down the Class II-IV South and Middle Forks of the American River on September 17th and 18th, 2011 to help raise money to support the 2012 ICO rafting season. You are invited to come enjoy these specials trips! Please join us for a fun-filled adventure of guided whitewater rafting in a beautiful river canyon, while supporting Inner City Outings.

Guests on the South Fork trip (Saturday, September 17) can explore a class III river rich with history and exciting whitewater. Those opting for a Middle Fork trip (Sunday, September 18) will tackle more challenging class IV rapids, including the infamous 'Tunnel Chute', all while exploring a rugged wilderness canyon etched by early gold mining.
