40 Years and going strong! Based on Sierra Club oral history, 1971 marks the year the idea for ICO began within the Sierra Club's San Francisco Bay Chapter. So, happy 40th anniversary this year!! 1976 is the year the Sierra Club Board of Directors made ICO an official national program.
ICO Rafting is a direct spinoff of the original ICO Group. The first ICO rafting trip was in 1979.
